I have been working as a counsellor in independent practice since 1987. My original training was humanistic.  I developed an interest in psychodynamic practice and completed an introductory course in Psychoanalytic Principles run by the British Association of Psychotherapists in 1993.

I completed a Masters Degree in Psychoanalytic Studies in 1999 at Leeds Psychotherapy Department and awarded by the School of Medicine of Leeds University. The training enabled me to follow my interest in the development of the personality from both a psychodynamic perspective and in studies in research in child development.   My dissertation was on the process of moving through developmental stages to become a separate adult.

I became an accredited counsellor by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP registration number 506772) in 1995 and I am now a Senior Registered Counsellor.
